Hi y’all!! We are 30 weeks and counting with this little (ok, not so little) bundle, and 27 weeks was the perfect time for a getaway. Jason had a work conference in Vegas so I did a little finagling and a lot of googling and found a way to tackle a multi city babymoon + get him to his work function on time. 😉 Outfits/hats are linked at the bottom of this post!
Generally when we travel we have a few loose guidelines we follow:
-
Hotel with preferably updated room, amenities like fitness center, etc.
-
Somewhat private (possible almost everywhere EXCEPT Vegas which I was fine with because I love Vegas a freakish amount haha)
-
Good food onsite, accessible resort restaurants (don’t always need a rezzi), but also easy access to yummy restaurants outside the resort. In Scottsdale we were only 2 miles from the downtown area so it worked perfectly.
This trip we had a few goals:
-
Reconnect – work has been crazy for Jason and although he is able to work from home sometimes, it’s vital to get some time away every once in a while and just focus on the other person. This is true all the time of marriage but I think even more so before adding a third family member 😉
-
Relax – avoid packing activities in and just go with the flow, spend a lot of time at the resort
-
Treat yoself! – hit up a spa, indulge in yummy food, etc.
PART I: SCOTTSDALE
^ self timer iPhone pic thus the terrible angle and lighting…but when it’s just the two of us it’s hard to get pics together so I take what we can get!!
I love this dress! So easy to throw on and is stylish as opposed to the standard “tent” maternity dress style…
We flew into Scottsdale on a Sunday and stayed at the Canyon Suites at the Phoenecian resort. It’s at the base of Camelback Mountain! Talk about R&R… it was quiet and relaxing with extremely personal service. I’d go back in a heartbeat…in fact we probably will! Haha.
The staff was so sweet and all said they hope we come back with the baby someday.
*swoon*
Seriously, HOW SWEET are they, a little surprise for us every day! Also whenever we left our room to go eat or workout or explore or something, they were all so quick to offer giving us a ride in a golf cart across the resort so that I didn’t get too hot. I mean come on.
The pools were quiet and mucho necessary given the heat.
The onsite restaurants were great, but as far as downtown Scottsdale we went to:
Barrio Queen: YUM – great Mexican food that I’d probably venture to call taco fusion. Tons of flavor combos and everything was very fresh.
Marcellino Ristorante: date night! Delicious fresh pasta and umm Jason said the wine was good? Lol.
We stayed through Wednesday morning and were sad to leave. We decided to drive our rental car to Vegas as it was a BEAUTIFUL drive with scenery that we all know photos don’t do justice. We also stopped at the Hoover Dam on a whim, it was no joke 120 degrees so we got our pics and I bounced my pregnant butt out of there, hahah.
PART II: LAS VEGAS
Oh hey Vegas!
We stayed in the Spa Tower of the Bellagio which was great because the base of it dumps you out right at the….
I spent a lot of my time during the day here, Jason checked in and out depending on his work schedule.
In case you’re wondering, Vegas pools are still practically empty at 9:45am because everyone is hungover in their room…oh well, better pics for me!! Hahah
We had beautiful dinners at two of the fountainview restaurants of the Bellagio!
Prime: I don’t make it a point to eat pea soup everywhere I go (who would?), but the pea soup was probably the most delicious thing I ate our entire trip. I recommend a 5 or 5:30pm reservation to get a seat by the window, at 6 everything fills up and you risk sitting in a corner…beautiful restaurant with great ambiance and amazing food nonetheless, but definitely come for the fountain/strip view!
Please don’t mind my tired face. It was a long drive ok?
Spago: We ate outdoors on a little balcony and it was very romantic and uhh maybe 113 degrees? Haha…early reservation = prime seating/views (the edge of the table you see was ours) but also the sun still out in full force. This place was delicious.
We packed up and left Saturday afternoon, so it was a 6 day trip which seemed like the right length of time. I guess I PROBABLY could’ve stayed at the pool another day if you had twisted my arm… 😉
